At The Académie, diversity, equity, and inclusion are at the heart of who we are. As a French–American bilingual school, we celebrate the richness of languages, cultures, and identities
At The Académie, our Middle School program builds on the strong bilingual foundation developed in Élémentaire. Students grow into confident, independent learners prepared to think critically, communicate effectively in two languages, and engage thoughtfully with the world around them.
Through a bilingual and bicultural approach, students deepen their academic knowledge while strengthening identity, responsibility, and global awareness.
Middle School students continue to develop advanced proficiency in both French and English through an integrated academic program.
Instruction is balanced to ensure strong literacy, analytical thinking, and subject mastery in both languages, preparing students for rigorous high school pathways in multilingual environments.
Spanish may continue as a third language, reinforcing international perspective and linguistic flexibility.
To preserve the integrity and academic level of our bilingual program:
A Middle School class will open only if at least 4 students enroll in the same grade level.
At this time, only students who are fluent French speakers or who have completed a French immersion program in elementary school will be accepted.
This ensures that all students can successfully engage in our academically rigorous bilingual curriculum.
Students benefit from structured learning time balanced with breaks and social interaction.
In alignment with the Belgian educational model, there is no school on Wednesday afternoons, allowing time for extracurricular activities, family life, independent projects, and personal development.
Each classroom is small and intimate, allowing for individual attention, tutoring if needed, and personalized guidance. Students are supported by two dedicated teachers—one native French speaker, one native English speaker—ensuring a fully immersive bilingual experience.
Our Middle School curriculum combines:
The academic rigor of the French national curriculum
Inquiry-based and student-centered American practices
Competency-based learning (pédagogie par compétences)
Students are encouraged to take intellectual risks, collaborate, debate ideas respectfully, and apply knowledge to real-world challenges.
As part of our commitment to authentic global education, overnight educational trips will be planned according to students’ age and readiness.
These immersive experiences strengthen language fluency, cultural understanding, independence, and global citizenship.
Classes remain intentionally small to ensure individualized attention, academic differentiation, and mentoring.
Students are guided by trained bilingual educators who provide both academic rigor and emotional support during this important developmental stage.
Students leave Middle School prepared for high school programs in multilingual, international, and academically demanding environments.
At The Académie, we are committed to building a continuous pathway from early childhood through secondary education, ensuring long-term excellence and growth.
